Make me like a rock
More like a boulder
Shoulders back feet in tact
Never backing down
Drowning out the sound of the enemy
Ex-bound now I stand in liberty
Spitting these rhymes freely
But hear me loud and clearly
If I merely pen or bend to be endearing
Just to tickle the ears that are hearing
If I’m not near enough to keep with the beat of Your heart
Or depart from Your feet where I started
Game over
If I no longer know how to break
If I stop taking in the breath You’re exhaling
Sailing on my own seas
Shame on me
I primarily, entirely and only
Need You to lead me
To breathe in me
Meet me in intimacy
Teach me to heed the sheer tears that fall from Your face
Till’ the mirror of Your grace sees their trace on my own
A beautiful exchange in the unknown
Some call it waste
Some say overkill
But I’m still just trying to set the pace
That’s been blatantly been erased
Like Mary
Unashamed to fall on my face
At the table where You recline
Defined by nothing less than
“I am Yours and You are mine”
So these rhymes are more than a hobby or a chore
But for the One whom my soul adores
Who stands at the shores of these seas
Beckoning me
Stepping every boundary my heart has traced
And every wall my insecurities have securely built in its place
You see past maze of my wavering ways
And the gates around my love
That say “Do not enter”
You are found at the center of every perimeter I set
Cause You weathered every storm
On the nights when the fight left me on the floor
It was Your hand that restored
It was the flood of Your peace that poured
Your word that was heard in the midnight hour
Spoken with such power and grace
That it filled every empty space
And more
So I can stand like a rock
Or more like a boulder
Shoulders back feet in tact
Never backing down
Drowning out the sound of the enemy
Cause’ I was ex-bound and now I stand in liberty
Spitting these rhymes freely
Cause these rhymes are more than a hobby or a chore
But for the One whom my soul adores
